01 / Overview

Rana is a time-capsule solution that securely delivers memories, important messages and digital legacy to future generations. Users schedule messages for family members years ahead; the data is encrypted and opens only on a predetermined date, for the chosen heirs.

02 / The problem

Digital legacy — passwords, documents, family videos — is usually not organised anywhere. Storing it in the cloud means the provider or an administrator could, in principle, read it.

03 / Our approach

Content is end-to-end encrypted, so no third party, administrators included, can reach videos or messages. Large video and audio files are stored asynchronously in encrypted cloud storage to keep the database light, and the backend is set up for high availability with Docker and Nginx.

04 / The result

A user can schedule a video message, a document or a will for their child’s 18th birthday. When the time comes, the recipient is notified by SMS, email or push notification, and the content opens only at that moment.

How it is built.

End-to-end encryption
Custom cryptography, so no third party — the administrator included — can access content.
Secure blob storage
Large video and audio files are stored asynchronously in encrypted cloud storage.

The backend is isolated with Docker and set up for high availability behind an Nginx reverse proxy.
